If you've built a business that if you get hit by a bus and that business shuts down, there's a problem.
It's all about what are you bringing to the table?
You saying this is what you produce is different from this is what I produced and this is what it did to the bottom line of the business.
You get paid on what they think you're worth. That's literally it.
The value that you bring has to be greater than the dollar amount that you command for someone to be able to give that up.
If your value is not translating to a measurable business impact, you're not going to get paid more.
If you're doing something for me, that thing that you're doing for me has to impact my bottom line in some way, shape, or form.
Hard work alone does not get you paid.
Visibility and relationship get you paid.
You miss 100% of the shots that you don't take.
Office politics matter because you need influence.
You need allies. You need timing, not just skills.
The productivity, that's baseline, because everybody's going to do their job.
What's going to set you apart is those relationships, that visibility that you've positioned yourself.
We need you to do your job excellently. But the most important part is that we need you to be trainable, coachable, relatable.
If you leave your job today, do you think people will feel it? Because if not, you might need to change your strategy.
