Why is it so hard for entrepreneurs to find time for family? As entrepreneurs, we wear a lot of hats. We're the janitor, the person that opens the door, the one that answers all the phone calls, cleans the office, gets the supplies. We have so many hats that sometimes when we get home, we just don't have enough energy for the family.
How do you define work-life balance? Balance is not about equal hours; it’s not 50/50. It’s about being 100% present in whatever you are doing. The mindset has to be that wherever I am, whether at home, at work, or with friends, I am 100% present in what's going on.
What's the best way to handle people who don't respect your time? You have to be intentional and set boundaries. If you don't set aside time for the things that matter, you'll have no control. We run on a schedule. You can't just barge in and throw it out.
How can I make sure I stick to my schedule? If what is valuable to you is on that calendar, nobody else is going to bump that stuff out because that's something that you love. For me and my wife, we have a family-shared account, and once it's on there in pink, it's not changing.
