I’m terrified that if I let someone else handle my business finances, they’ll mess everything up. How do I let go?
It starts with a shift in mindset. If you don't delegate tasks like payroll or bill-paying to a professional, you won't have the time to do the high-level work required for growth. We have to realize we aren't the only ones with the smarts to get things done.
How do I know if I can actually trust a new hire with high-stakes tasks?
Trust is sorted during the vetting process. If you can't trust the people working for you, you don't have a trust problem—you have a hiring problem. People often "package" themselves during interviews, so you must ensure they can practically do the job before giving them more responsibility.
What should I do if a team member I’ve delegated to isn't meeting my standards?
You must be transparent. Set up objective metrics and have regular check-ins. Ask them how long they need to achieve a goal, give them a bit more time than they requested, and if those criteria aren't met, the conversation becomes objective rather than emotional.
Is it okay to accept work that isn't as perfect as if I did it myself?
Yes. If a team member can do the work 80% as well as you can, that is often enough. You have to be okay with the team making mistakes, especially since no onei ncluding the founder, bats 100% all the time.
