I know I need to workout, but I'm too stressed and busy to plan a routine. Where do I start?
Stop planning for your body and just do it. If you are waiting for the perfect diet plan or the perfect workout schedule, years will go by. The best advice is to just get outside and walk to clear your thoughts. Set small goals: first, get out of bed, then put your shoes on, then get to the car. Even if you just drive to the gym and sit in the parking lot, you are building the habit. Eventually, you will go in. The momentum of action beats the perfection of planning every time.
I feel like therapy is only for people who are having a breakdown. Why should I go if I'm "good"?
We need to treat therapy like an annual physical checkup, it is preventative, not reactive. In our culture, we often wait until something is broken to fix it, but high performers use therapy to stay optimal. Think of it as a "talking diary" or a safe space where you can unload the stress of business, fatherhood, and being a husband without burdening your immediate circle. It helps you make sense of the chaos in your head before it manifests as a problem in your life.
How do I handle the guilt of taking time off when there is so much work to do?
You have to realize that if you don't save yourself, the business goes down anyway. It is the oxygen mask rule: take care of yourself first so you can take care of others. We use the concept of "Self-Life" scheduling intentional time for yourself, whether that is a spa day, watching a movie alone, or going to a sports bar. This isn't wasted time; it is a necessary investment to keep your endorphins flowing and your mind sharp so you can perform when it matters.
